Four New Orleans evacuees and their cats found refuge at the home
of Fe-Lines, Inc. President, Bonnie Pemberton, as Katrina ripped
through Louisiana.
Jersey, a tiny calico female, and Lagniappe, a strapping black
male called Fe-Lines, Inc. offices home for three weeks, while
their owners struggled to relocate in Fort Worth, Texas. The two
animals quickly settled in, dividing time between the IT Department,
and Executive Offices. Staff stepped over litter boxes, food bowls
and mouse toys, but otherwise, it was business as usual.
In addition to over $10,000.00 donated to animal related causes
in 2005, Fe-Lines, Inc. gave an additional $1,000.00 to The Humane
Society of the United States for Katrina animal rescue.
Coincidentally, Fritz, beloved family dog of one of the house
guests, and reportedly killed in the storm, was actually rescued
three weeks later by the HSUS Katrina program, and relocated to
Oregon.
As of this writing, the Fe-Lines,
guests have all found jobs and animal friendly lodging in the Fort
Worth area…and Fritz,
thin but healthy, has been reunited with his New Orleans family.
